Verdict

There don't look to be any stable stars in this mediocre opener but WHITBY is the pick with Always Dixie and Blades Harmony also entering our calculations. The selection was a fairly expensive one by Mick Easterby's standards at 38 000 guineas and has had two runs - missing the break badly on the second. She is better judged on her first outing when finishing a well backed fourth in a better race on this surface. Always Dixie has not seen the track since debuting in April. There has obviously been some reason for that though on the positive; Mark Johnston has had a few winners on the artificial surfaces of late. Blades Harmony is related to plenty of five and six furlong performers. He has already had the unkindest cut of all. Prince Yarraman was 50/1 on debut at Kempton and stayed on as if needing the race. Right Grand was a little disappointing at Wolverhampton on debut and needs to improve in order to win this. Tenga Venga was tried in a hot Newmarket debut though we would have liked to have seen more aptitude for this surface on his previous visit to this circuit. Whitby is not without questions to answer today but we will give her the chance to find the right answers.
