      Verdict

      ORNATE was rewarded for earlier good efforts here when scoring over track and trip on Thursday. He came home a clear winner and should go very close again despite carrying 6lb extra. Something Lucky has finished behind the selection the last twice but Mininggold arrives bidding for a hat-trick of course and distance wins having finished just in front of Crosse Fire last time and is another to consider, as is the latter, who ran well in a slightly better race on Thursday. Samovar unseated at the start in the race won by Ornate on Thursday but finished ahead of Chookie Dunedin when runner-up here last month though was narrowly beaten by Cool Spirit when the latter won here at this time last year.
