In depth

Verdict

From a yard in top form, TRIP TO ROME can make a winning handicap debut after a very convincing victory in a Kempton novices' contest. Another Kempton winner, Acotango, made a very positive comeback in a better race at Haydock and can't have been right when well beaten at Newmarket. Band Of Steel was sent into Group 3 company on the latter track in October after landing a Wolverhampton maiden but was well beaten. Brighton winner Inspirited returned to action with a close second in a Redcar handicap where he may have found the ground too soft while dual winner Metahorse has generally raced at a higher level.
