Purple 'n Gold was behind Roman Flight over a shorter trip at Stratford two runs ago but did much better last time at Uttoxeter when ground and distance were in his favour, finishing ahead of Silver Man. He should have his conditions again here and won’t be far away. It was soft going when Ballykan won at Perth last month but Presenting Arms remains unexposed over fences, as does Market Rasen winner Cusheen Bridge. It was a pity that CERNUNNOS fell at the last on his reappearance following a break as he'd run very well up to that point. Progressive earlier in the year, he might be one to follow this season so gets the vote.
