In depth

Verdict

Alfie Tupper looks more than capable of getting us off to a good start and is favoured by the weights in this claimer, with Nabir looking next best. Alfie Tupper was fourth in a handicap from a 3lb higher mark last time and the step back up to this 1m 4f will not be a problem. He keeps a very consistent level of form at a whole range of trips and is without doubt the most solid option here. Nabir returns to the level for the first time since April after running with credit over the sticks. Peter Niven's gelding has run well enough from this sort of mark in handicaps and over this trip and he looks forecast material. None of the others have shown much of late but perhaps selling hurdle winner Aristi and former C&D scorer Royal Axminster can fight out the minors, though the win can go to Alfie Tupper.
