Verdict

Mambo Sun is in great form at present and is not without hope of defying a 5lb rise for winning over course and distance last time, but we will take a chance here with TEVEZ. Amy Weaver's gelding notched up his only career win here over course and distance in a maiden a year ago. The handicapper appeared to have overdone things in the light of that success, as he has struggled in handicaps from marks in the 70s. However, he has now slid down the ratings to 62 and after a useful effort from 5lb higher last time he can get back to winning ways on a surface he enjoys. West End Lad is another course winner in the field and he usually runs well here without managing to get his nose in front. He really needs a favour from the assessor before he can realistically win another such handicap. Sularno is 5lb higher than when winning a course and distance handicap last June but he did win from a higher mark than this at Great Leighs and comes from a yard very much respected. Vogarth won a seller here earlier in the month and with a claimer up and first-time blinkers he has a chance of taking home some money. Rub Of The Relic needs a drop in the weights and we think Tevez can score.
