Verdict
Canadian Danehill can get recent losses back at the expense of Egyptian Lord, The Fisio and Cross Of Lorraine to name but a few. At first glance the opening event on the Southwell card looks quite competitive, but there is no escaping the fact that the selection was unlucky in running on his last outing at Wolverhampton. Robert Cowell's charge was chasing a four-timer then but lost all chance after being badly hampered on the bend. Drawn wide in stall nine here and dropped back to what appears to be his best trip of five furlongs, the five-year-old looks all set to gain another course-and-distance victory. Egyptian Lord appears to be the best of the Peter Grayson pair, having won three of his last four starts, but he meets the selection on the same terms as when beaten three-lengths by him at Wolverhampton in January. He should just about hold stablemate Stoneacre Boy on latest running though, and can make the frame at least. The Fisio has been in good form of late, and is dangerous to leave out in his current mood, but former Ayr Gold Cup winner Funfair Wane has been a shadow of his former self. A bigger threat therefore may be Cross Of Lorraine who does not look badly treated at present, but we remain keen on Canadian Danehill.
