In depth
Verdict
Grasscutter has shown a consistent level of form, including over this trip, having found one too good in each of his last three starts but Don McCain's gelding may have to settle for minor honours again with preference for Great Endeavour, who gets the vote with Cross Compliance rated the pick of the remainder. The selection showed a decent level of form when winning his only start in a point-to-point and a reproduction of that form on his rules debut may well suffice in a moderate contest. Nigel Twiston-Davies continues to churn out plenty of winners but his runner here, Billie Magern, will need to improve on all known form to trouble the judge. Alan King's Miss Carroll has shown only a limited amount of ability in three starts in bumpers, while Dashing Romeo, a bumper winner in Ireland, looks best watched on his debut for Evan Williams. Jonjo O'Neill's Cross Compliance is probably better than he showed on his debut in a Worcester bumper and he has to be considered but preference is for Great Endeavour.
