Makai can put paid to these rivals, the best of whom can prove to be The City Kid, with Moi Aussie and Cape Win worth a mention at least. It normally pays to follow topweights in nurseries, but The City Kid has to give plenty of weight to Makai, and that should tilt the scales in favour of the latter today. Mark Johnston's gelding is not badly treated for his first foray into this company, and should improve for the step up to a mile. The City Kid defied a four-pound rise when doubling up in a claimer here last time, but in addition to tackling stronger company, is not sure to get the trip on breeding, unlike the selection. Moi Aussie comes from a shrewd yard and should be noted in the market, while Cape Win has to prove that he handles this type of surface. There are plenty of ifs and buts here, but a chance is taken on Makai.
