Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

This seven-runner maiden has produced an interesting, if seemingly modest, line-up and we'll opt for Monte Major over Norwegian. Newmarket stables are is well represented here with three runners, and the one that we like most of all is Michael Jarvis's Monte Major, who has shown promise at an average level in four starts. Given that this is an average contest, he warrants plenty of consideration. The in-form David Loder runs Norwegian. Much as the three-year-old son of Halling showed very little at Wolverhampton on his debut when easy in the betting, he has to be given chances here in what looks a modest heat. The drop back in trip is not certain to suit Sir Mark Prescott's Vivre Sa Vie, although she showed promise here on her debut 10 days ago. Both Dalida and Bundaberg could improve for the step up in trip, but the other three runners have shown little to date. Overall, then, Monte Major could well be in command at the finish.
