In depth

Verdict

Simarian can reverse recent form with Tobago Bay whilst hurdling debutants Paul The Carpet, Rory Boy and King Bathwick need to be monitored in the market. The ground is currently riding good but there's been plenty of rain about and conditions could change. The selection ran well enough with cut in the ground on the level for that not to be too much of a concern and he's 7lbs better off with Tobago Bay for half a length. Tobago Bay has posted an improved performance since that race at Sedgefield and being by Tobougg may handle softer conditions. He still has that to prove though and is up against it under a double penalty. Duke Of Touraine and Roman Legion have plenty to find with that pair but are entitled to improve and the newcomers may pose more of a threat. The market may be the best guide to their chances but Simarian has solid claims in the book.
