In depth
Verdict
Bear in mind that Ray Source and Green Go may well have run at Bangor on Saturday but, without that knowledge and in a competitive race, we will opt for Batten Down with Tommy Carson, Frentzen, Ray Source and Sunshan rated his main rivals. Looking at the field. Ray Source is four pounds higher than for his last win but can still go well and should be sharper for his seasonal reappearance. Nocksky has been raised nine pounds since winning a seller here, while Tommy Carson comes here in good heart following the first Flat win of his career, even though he is seven-pounds higher than for his last chase success. Prince Highlight has a good chance on his 2002 form and shaped encouragingly last time but he probably prefers give these days, while Frentzen ran well last time but has been raised accordingly although Mick Fitzgerald is an eyecatching booking. Sunshan is a course winner but has been beaten from revised marks since and Batten Down was a beaten favourite last time but maybe a first-time visor might help the Tony McCoy-ridden gelding. And Our Tommy has won two his last three races but has been raised 13lbs as a consequence. Put all of this into the mix and the pin lands against the name of Batten Down.
