Verdict
Lord Baskerville can beat his mainly older rivals, the best of whom can prove to be Native Commander, Secret Divin and Changing Gear. Lord Baskerville has yet to score either on the Flat or over jumps, but gave a good account of himself when second in a selling hurdle at Hexham off a mark of 88 last time, getting within a length of a 110-rated rival. That effort suggests that Charles Pogson's five-year-old should be persevered with in his bid to open his account. He could do so here over Native Commander who is a bit long in the tooth now but has shown a bit more than some of the others and so merits a place interest at least, while Changing Gear has just his second race since coming over from Ireland and has to shoulder topweight. Secret Divin posted his best effort yet when second at Towcester, and if he jumps better, can have a say in the finish with Richard Johnson taking over from a lady rider. Lord Baskerville has a bit of scope though and can improve enough to win what is in truth a moderate finale.
