Verdict

This looks a straight shoot-out between VOLPONE JELOIS, trained by Paul Nicholls and Mohaayed, handled by his former assistant Dan Skelton. The latter is expected to go off market leader after a highly promising debut in the Boxing Day novices' hurdle won by Elgin. He was subsequently a fair fourth in the classy Haydock contest won by Neon Wolf and will obviously go close. However, the Nicholls runner may offer a tad of value in receipt of 5lb plus Harry Cobden's 3lb allowance. He only just got home when scoring here in December before returning to run a fine race for one so inexperienced when third in a decent handicap behind Space Oddity. The rest don't look good enough but it might be worth keeping an eye on a couple of newcomers in Theatre Stage and Jamesgiftkeysandal in the market.
