Verdict
PEPE SIMO sets the standard here and can get off the mark at the third attempt in this bumper, with Pipe Banner the likely threat. The Paul Nicholls-trained selection might have won a Sandown bumper on debut but for veering across the track through greenness, and he met what looked a decent sort when beaten at Newbury last time. The experience gained from those two runs, plus his ability, can stand him in good stead here. Pipe Banner ran in the same Sandown contest as the selection and finished three lengths or so in arrears that day. Nicky Henderson continues to fire in the winners and it will be a surprise if his charge has not improved a fair bit since that run so he is much respected. Hobb's Dream is an interesting debutant from a yard going well and she should relish the cut in the ground so watch the market for clues there, Beyond Moonbeams can improve for his October debut from a yard that can send them in at a price, while Dontsayathing is related to winners and looks one to watch. Pepe Simo is the pick here.
