    Verdict

Roger Varian may have found a decent opportunity for SHAMLAN to make a winning debut. A son of Shamardal, the gelding's dam has produced winners with her first three foals and he has more scope than Tuco, who ran in snatches on his Turf debut at Salisbury and has become expensive to follow. French import Dinaria needed the run at Nottingham but kept on in the closing stages and should do better here. Free Running hinted at ability over 7f at Newbury and is another who will have benefited from the run.
