Verdict
Glistening is taken to beat High Kick, with Mischief Night, Woodland Lodge and Poirot all to be noted. The first three mentioned have all indicated that they will quickly lose their respective maiden tags before too long, none more so than Glistening. Sir Michael Stoute's colt, a half-brother to 10 winners including Tenby, is still entered in the Derby, and although unlikely to go to Epsom, can still pay his way in decent company based on his debut second to Unfurled at Goodwood. He stayed on well and gets the step up in trip that his breeding demands so should go close. High Kick is a half-brother to Derby winner High Rise but started his career in bumper company. Richard Fahey's charge was only beaten close home by the favourite Mokaraba here on his debut under Flat rules last month, and had Mischief Night well behind in third. He should maintain that form at least without beating the selection. Woodland Lodge is well-bred on the dam's side and should be noted in the market, while Poirot has joined the burgeoning Graham Wylie empire so is another not to forget, but Glistening sets the standard and is the pick.
