          Verdict

          A very competitive renewal but the draw has done no favours to the likes of course specialist Cassy O, Challet, Arthur's Realm and Gweedore. Well drawn in stall five, Substantial got the better of the latter on soft going at Haydock last month. He’s been very lightly raced and should confirm the form on better terms. MAKEEN continues to run well and shouldn’t be far away again even though only third when favourite for last month’s Carlisle Bell. He can get the better of New Pursuit, probably the pick of the three-year-olds, and Empirestateofmind with the latter, like Pisanello, proving hard to place.
