Verdict

Top Othe Ra ran well on his hurdling debut at Gowran last month so it was a surprise to see him back in a bumper at Leopardstown at Christmas. New River was a decent performer for Richard Hannon who will have come on for her opening run for new connections at Leopardstown and Fred Diamond showed improvement at Cork and should make further progress. Recent point-to-point winners Auld Sthock and Never Complain have to be respected, especially the latter, who looked a nice prospect when scoring at Boulta, but it's Willie Mullins' newcomer DJAKADAM who is handed the vote as he won't need to be a world-beater and has the pedigree to operate at a much higher level than this.
