MAYLEAF SHINE has been unfortunate not to lose her maiden tag as she's been running well in maidens and her second place behind Mr Scarlet in a huge field at Naas gives her an outstanding chance to put matters right. Miss Cogent landed a Cork maiden on soft ground in June before running at Listed and Group 3 level so she'll be happier back in this class. Fasuba finished in front of the latter on this track last month, when Lyin Eyes was beaten a long way, but didn't perform as well at Down Royal a couple of weeks later and was only just in front of Texas Dancer, who is much better off at the weights and looks the main threat.
