In depth

Verdict

Omme Antique is given another chance to confirm the promise of his handicap bow. If he fails to fire, Doctor Kilbride could be the one to profit although both Alfabet Souk and Our Jim are sure to have their supporters. The selection stepped up on the form of his first three starts when going close on his handicap bow and was duly well backed when next seen out at Folkestone. He failed to run his race that day but looked a horse of potential at Warwick and is taken to make amends. He has his stamina to prove at this trip but his yard is adept at placing their horses and he gets the vote. Alfabet Souk and Our Jim filled the first two places over 3 miles at Newcastle and are closely matched on the revised terms. Both are lightly raced and thus open to improvement and look sure to be in the mix. Doctor Kilbride was an impressive winner over course and distance in October before finding the step up in class too much at Ascot next time. He didn't appear to relish the heavy ground at Catterick last time but still stayed on well to finish second and should give a good account on this better ground. However, the vote goes to Omme Antique.
