Verdict

An open look to this handicap chase where MAN OF THE MOMENT is a speculative selection to see off the main danger Smart Thinker. Jim Best's gelding was sent all the way to Carlisle for his chase debut last time and had a quiet enough time of things, never really threatening the leading players. Nonetheless, the experience will have done him plenty of good and this stiff track will probably suit, and from the same mark we will chance him to come good today. Smart Thinker scored over a marathon trip at Sedgefield last time, when she was very game. An 8lb rise is probably not insurmountable in this sort of company, but nonetheless she is definitely vulnerable and we'll take her on. Three miles and soft ground suits Alderbrook Girl, and she has been sliding in the weights for some time. On some of her old form she'd be thrown in here so don't rule her out. The ground looks too testing for Orion Star, Star Glow is back on a handy mark but not exactly in red hot form, while old stagers Fisherman Jack and Ross Leader will need a favour from the assessor to win again and Man Of The Moment can hopefully live up to his name.
