Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

This looks good for Ballyaahbutt, with Highland Chief and Lusaka De Pembo seen as the pair to chase him home. Ballyaahbutt had been runner-up three times in succession before finally coming good at Lingfield last week when partnered by Mick Fitzgerald who put up a pound overweight that day. He lines up on a 6lb higher mark with his 7lb penalty, but should easily carry the burden judged by the way that he came home in what was a decent time. He jumps well, and should pay to follow for the rest of the season. Highland Chief is a maiden after 10 starts, and Henrietta Knight now tries him over a shorter trip after he appeared to run out of steam at Market Rasen. Towcester is a stiff track, but the faster ground should help at least. Lusaka De Pembo also ran at Market Rasen last time, and was most disappointing, but he had run well behind Glen Thyne here the time before, so is given another chance to at least run well, without proving good enough to score. The rest are pretty woeful, and in truth, a clear round should be enough to see Ballyaahbutt in the winner's enclosure again.
