Verdict

It appears unlikely that any of the newcomers will be good enough so this may rest between HISNAMEIS MRDEVITT and Smooth Player. The former has changed stables since an excellent third behind the brilliant Marine Nationale at Punchestown in October, form that would be good enough for this providing he's ready. The latter is getting better with racing and was only headed close home by Law Ella over 2m5f at Downpatrick. Baltic Moon has failed to fire in two starts for Willie Mullins but shouldn't be given up on just yet while Team Of Firsts, a winner on heavy ground on the level, may prove best of the first-timers.
