In depth

Verdict

Capt Jack can make fitness count over the Jonjo O'Neill pair Ice Melted and The King Of Angels. Capt Jack has been showing fair ability since switching from points, and has course experience, having run twice here in July. John Mackie's charge finished third to the useful Ladino on the first occasion, so it was no surprise really when he put in a pleasing performance at Bangor to lower the colours of the odds-on favourite Longueville Manor. He seemed suited by the soft ground that day, so the prevailing conditions here will not bother the seven-year-old who can successfully defy a penalty. The horse he beat at Bangor is trained by Jonjo O'Neill, who will obviously have a line to work on, but Ice Melted has not been out since March, while well-bred The King Of Angels has yet to jump a twig in public. Nothing else makes any appeal, so the market is best watched on that score, but Capt Jack is fit, has conditions to suit, and should follow up.
