Verdict

River Bray, a shade unlucky when second at Taunton last winter, and Templepark, also beaten under a length when runner-up here last month, set a decent standard in this but there are several unknown quantities. Reve won on the all-weather track at Chantilly back in January and Ballyart dead-heated in a point-to-point at Farmaclaffey in February. GENERATION GAP was sold for £45,000 after winning by 30 lengths between the flags in May and could be an above-average recruit so gets the nod ahead of Amoola Gold, clear of the rest when second at Warwick in May. We've Got Payet beat a subsequent winner in a bumper here in July so can’t be ignored.
