In depth

Verdict

A tricky race in which Water King, Bohemian Boy and Mylo look to hold solid claims and it is to Bohemian Boy that we turn. Mark Pitman isn't known as too much of a summer trainer so the fact that Bohemian Boy has been kept in work suggests that he could be above average for this time of year. Its fair comment to suggest that his hurdling form hasn't quite lived up to his bumper promise but he has less question marks than most. Water King should encounter few problems with a step up in trip tonight. His trainer has always held him in some regard in spite of various training troubles and Rift Valley's victory earlier in the week served to boost his most recent formline. The re-application of blinkers aboard Mylo looked to spark some life back into this moody character. He had lost his way badly prior to his last run and his backers will be hoping that he will fall for the same trick twice. Brigadier Benson is off a light racing weight this evening. There was no fluke about his recent Southwell success and the market will serve as an effective barometer. Bunkum's better form is on a softer surface while Stamparland Hill has no problems with the surface but isn't always the most resolute of finishers. Called To The Bar was a beaten favourite on his last start but he is relatively consistent bearing in mind his advancing years. A good puzzle in which Bohemian Boy is offered up as a feasible solution.
