    In depth

    Verdict

Debauchery looks the call here, with Spud the obvious danger. The selection won with any amount in hand last time out at Plumpton, and assuming he handles today's course with similar aplomb, he must go close. He will have to give weight away to the whole field, but his trainer has his stable (and in particular his bumper horses) in good form at present so he gets the nod. Paul Webber does well in these contests and his charge Spud is one who should go well. He performed above expectations (sent off at 20/1) when a runner-up on his debut and he looks sure to benefit from that experience and has claims today. Morgan The Mighty was well beaten on his debut so may be seen to better effect over obstacles in time, whilst the same can be said for Donald McCain's Just Smokie. This doesn't look the strongest of contests, so we are happy to return to the proven Debauchery to land the spoils.
