In depth

Verdict

ACTION IMPACT looks fairly treated and is put up here ahead of Thumbs Up and Karky Schultz in a tricky opener. Gary Moore's Argentinian-bred gelding has progressed steadily over hurdles, culminating in a Plumpton win earlier in the month. On that occasion he was 14 lengths in front of a horse rated 110 so this mark of 117 looks fair and if he handles this quicker ground (won on good ground on the flat) then he must go close. Karky Schultz is a course and distance winner and he bounced back to form when fourth at Newbury last time, Thumbs Up was poor at Taunton and looks high enough in the weights, whilst Cool Touch drops in grade but on a form line through Bothy he looks fairly handicapped on 117. American Cricket has been put up 9lbs for his second to Ifandbutwhy at Bangor and the nine-year-old doesn't have the most alluring of profiles, so a bigger threat may be El Distintivo after some solid efforts in defeat recently. The ground will suit Monsieur Jourdain, whilst Peter Grimes and L'Homme De Nuit remain capable of better. The consistent Miss Ladybird should not be written off against the boys, however ready preference in the opener is for Action Impact.
