Verdict
WINCHESTER RED is taken to get back to winning ways in this competitive handicap, while McQueen and Storm of Applause are both worthy of mention. The selection landed back to back races at Worcester and Southwell in July. One was a hurdle race the other a chase so he has proved his versatility. He came to grief on his latest outing and a return to hurdling is sure to rebuild his confidence and if at his best he is sure to be in the shake come the business end of the race. McQueen finished a decent second off a two pound lower mark at this venue last time out. This step up in trip ought to be in his favour so any market moves should be noted. Top weight Storm Of Applause was not seen since April but ran well enough on his return at Newton Abbot earlier in the month and Rhys Flint claims a valuable three pounds off his back and another bold effort can be expected. Winchester Red is taken to redeem himself after falling last time out and is worth siding with for the time being.
