        Verdict

        College Oak, something of an all or nothing character, did well to make all at Stratford and will no doubt set out to do likewise off a new mark of 111, up 5lb. Much will depend on whether he gets into his rhythm but For Jim, a good second here last time, and Defi D'Oudairies, beaten by the minimum margin at Newton Abbot latest, are viable alternatives. Dellboy Trotter is also in the midst of a decent run of form and can make his presence felt off the bottom perch, but a chance is taken with VIKING RUBY. She's a course and distance winner who is nicely treated on the best of her form and makes further appeal when the 7lb claim of Thomas Doggrell is added in. She hasn't won since 2020 but recent efforts have not been devoid of promise.
