Verdict

EMERALD GLADE picked up a penalty for beating Anton Dolin at Worcester last weekend but the second franked the form during the week and Jim Best's mare is possibly a couple of steps ahead of the handicapper at present. Mount Welcome won off a 7lb higher mark over fences at Newton Abbot last time so has to be respected while Van Diemens Land races off the same mark as when a close third at Fontwell. Flat winner Tadabeer was well backed at Worcester but again came up short while Vertueux hasn't been seen over jumps for 15 months, though was third on the level at Chepstow earlier this month.
