Verdict

A maiden brings an end to racing this afternoon and it is SOUTER POINT who gets the verdict with Doggerbank and De Soto expected to complete the front three. The recently gelded selection has been a beaten favourite at the last three attempts but he should prove a different proposition in a race of this calibre. Trainer Roger Charlton has a high opinion of him and he does have a lot to prove but he does look capable of taking a modest maiden such as this and is given a chance. Doggerbank a half-sister to 1m2f scorer Secret Dancer, out of a Park Hill winner, but made a pleasing debut at Lingfield last month. She lost ground on the turn for home and showed her inexperience, but she finished nicely. Although by Oasis Dream, she should stay even further and is open to improvement. Back with Paul Webber, De Soto made a decent return to action last time after almost 10 months away from the track. He stayed on well to snatch third. He had most of his success when a decent hurdler but he should make the frame here. Little Prudence is bred to appreciate this sort of trip but has only had two outings to date and although she¿s heading in the right direction she appears to be more of a long term project. Our selection then goes the way of Souter Point.
