Verdict

Sire Du Berlais won the final of this series in 2020 and is having a first run in a handicap since. Fellow Irish raider The Jam Man has won 11 of his 44 career starts and was a fair fourth at Navan six weeks ago, though did finish behind Third Wind at Haydock last season. Sporting John won at Cheltenham in November but didn’t quite run up to that form on a return visit. ALAPHILIPPE hasn’t run since fifth in last year’s Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham but has gone well fresh in the past and may outstay Haydock runner-up Riggs, who has only won once so far but will handle conditions as well as any of these.
