In depth

After making his debut over timber in the Tolworth Hurdle, Global Stage was made odds-on at Leicester. But he found one too good and looked very one-paced so is taken on here with MONSIEUR CO. Paul Nicholls’ four-year-old was a lucky winner at Wincanton but this more searching test of stamina will suit and Stan Sheppard takes off a valuable 5lb. Coo Star Sivola weakened quickly last time in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham but had won a Listed race at that track earlier, though has to carry a 10lb penalty here as a result. The others appear to have plenty to find to figure.

Coo Star Sivola (FR) 8-1 (11-10) Tracked leaders, ridden after normal 3 out, weakened before omitted last, 6th of 10, 33 3/4l behind Wholestone (11-10) at Cheltenham 2m 4f (1) sft in Jan.

Chateau Robin (IRE) 12-1 (10-12) Prominent, led 3rd, headed next, weakened 4 out, 7th of 12, 28 1/2l behind Rather Be (11-5) at Huntingdon 2m 4f (4) gs in Dec.

Global Stage 4-6fav (11-5) Chased winner until 4th, not fluent 7th, soon went 2nd again, pushed along after 3 out, driven and no impression before last, 2nd of 6, 9l behind Ballyarthur (11-5) at Leicester 2m 4f (4) sft in Jan.

Max Dynamo 200-1 (11-2) Held, up in mid-division, weakened 4 out, 10th of 16, dist behind River Wylde (11-2) at Ludlow 2m mdn (4) gs in Dec.

Monsieur Co (FR) 4-9fav (10-13) Led, shaken up and headed 2 out, soon driven, beaten when left in clear lead last, won at Wincanton 1m 7f (4) sft in Jan beating Tikkinthebox (11-4) by 8l, 7 ran.

Sacred Summit (IRE) 100-1 (11-3) Way off the pace in mid-division, well behind 3rd, remote 6th 3 out, 10th of 14, dist behind Mohaayed (11-3) at Taunton 2m (4) sft in Feb.
