Verdict

Penalised runners Ken Scott and Sharmy set a decent standard for the rest and should make a bold bid to shrug off their disadvantages at the weights. However, the latter has not been the most straightforward of characters is not one to trust implicitly - despite an improved effort at Huntingdon last time. Whereas the former is only lightly-made and may struggle if the ground becomes testing overnight. French imports, Jefertiti and Kali Des Obeaux showed a good level of ability in their homeland and will be interesting if supported. The same sentiments also apply to hurdles debutantes Dollar Law, Parable and Motcomb Jam. But in the absence of any indications from the betting ring Translucid gets the TEAMtalk vote after faring well in defeat at Ascot earlier in the month. Tony McCoy was in the saddle on that occasion and will be a little wiser to this slightly headstrong individual this time around. The fact that he finished 13 lengths in front of Sharmy on that occasion also adds to his case and he can confirm the form with his 6lb pull in the weights.
