      Verdict

      STEEL AN ICON is Flat bred and showed plenty of pace to make a winning debut at Newbury. She has to give 7lb to her rivals but may well complete the double with her likely market rivals both bred for jumping and likely to need further. Tweed Skirt is a half-sister to three winners including the useful Petticoat Tails and Maroochi is a half-sister to a staying chaser. Splashing was easy to back over course and distance on debut but did keep on for third, albeit well behind an easy winner.
