Verdict
Another intriguing little contest where none of the quartet set to go to post can confidently rules out. However, the improving Smiths Landing looks to be on the upgrade and he just edges the vote over Totally Scottish and Lord York. Sue Smith does well with her summer jumpers and her record at the course with horses of this nature is improving season by season. Smiths Landing was just run out of things over course and distance last time out, but may be able to go one better with Warren Marston in the saddle this evening. Totally Scottish represents the top trainer at Wetherby and has to be considered for that reason alone. But he is not the most consistent of performers and needs everything to drop just right for him to keep his interest up. Lord York also comes in the equation on the best of his form and he should appreciate the drop in class today. Support for him pre-race would be interesting. Diamond Joshua goes well here but seems to have lost his way a little. However, he could be good value for a surprise forecast slot if he runs up to his best.
