In depth

Verdict

Unwin Vc made a winning start at Exeter, despite taking a strong hold, and holds Corsecombe and Celtic Style on that run, though will do well to defy a penalty against several nicely-bred newcomers. Dusky Hercules is a half-brother to four winners, including the smart Black Hercules, but LAMANVER PIPPIN may have more speed. He’s by Apple Tree and a half-brother to three winning hurdlers including Lamanver Odyssey, who also won a bumper. Carrick Roads cost £90,000 and is a half-brother to two winners so adds to the interest and Getaway Trump and Kauto The King have already shown signs of ability. Earth Moor’s stable has a healthy strike-rate in bumpers this season but he looks more of a long-term prospect.
