In depth

Verdict

Ch'tibello, last year's County Handicap winner, was only narrowly beaten on a return to Cheltenham in December but couldn't handle Grade 1 company in the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton. Elgin is interesting having won this in 2018 before a reasonable run in the Champion Hurdle. Twice a winner on the Flat that summer he has a long absence to overcome. Zambella, a winner on the Flat and over hurdles in France, attempted to make all in a Listed contest at Sandown early this month but couldn't find extra when headed 2 out in the race won by QUEL DESTIN. Paul Nicholls' charge was on a six-timer when fifth in the Triumph Hurdle but got back to winning ways on a return visit to Cheltenham in October and that latest run will have put him spot-on. Song For Someone couldn't quite hold off Thomas Darby in an Ascot Grade 3 handicap but a similar performance would see him go close.
