In depth

Verdict

The vote in the opener goes to Senorita Rumbelita ahead of Ain't That A Shame, Nocturnally and Toemac. Well-regarded by her trainer, Senorita Rumbelita won twice in bumpers last season promising much for the future. Connections have found her a good race to start in over hurdles and she should go well. Exeter bumper winner Ain't That A Shame fell on his hurdling debut but, having shown that earlier promise, has to be considered from a strong stable. From the Martin Pipe yard, Castletown Lad has to be given some thought, while Double Law has hinted at promise but couldn't be suggested as the winner. Gunship hails from a good stable but will need to step up on his Aintree bumper debut, but the well-related Nocturnally has shown enough in bumpers to be suggested as a place possible. Toemac looked very promising when winning two bumpers in the spring of 2004. Much as he is likely to be better over further, keep an eye on the betting with regard to him, but She's No Muppet regressed following her Warwick bumper win last season. All in all, then, the vote stays with Senorita Rumbelita.
