In depth
Formwatch
Grimes Unbeaten in two runs this season but hasn't run since May 14 of last year; he's got some smart form and should run well here.
Hors La Loi III (FR) Won this last year ahead of chasing home Istabraq in the Champion Hurdle; bled at Aintree afterwards and has been disappointing since; if back to his best then he would have a big chance; but that's the chance you take.
Ben Ewar Run-of-the-mill form in novices' hurdles; a lot more needed.
Hidebound (IRE) Ran poorly in the Tote Gold Trophy on his seasonal bow and ran only twice last year (both times over fences); formerly a smart hurdler but this is asking a big question at this time.
Hit And Run (FR) Placed for the second year running in the Tote Gold Trophy last time; solid handicap form, but that's the level he operates at.
Hitman (IRE) Still a novice and only twice raced, but has acquired a reputation as a Champion Hurdle contender based on his fourth to Geos in the Bula Hurdle on December 9; the jury is still out but the defence has built a convincing case; the likely favourite.
Seebald (GER) Has yet to fully live up to his billing but ran his best race to date when two lengths and a head behind Geos and Ashley Park at Kempton on Dec 27; that was a falsely-run affair;before that he finished five and-a-half lengths behind Hitman at Cheltenham; they meet on the same terms today.
Azertyuiop (FR) Well-regarded French import but it's asking a lot to win a race of this nature at the first time of asking.
Vanishing Dancer (SWI) Not out of the novices' top-drawer and looks out of his depth here.
