In depth

Verdict

KAHSABELLE had proved to be disappointing before winning last time but she absolutely bolted up at Hereford and looks well-in under a penalty; she gets the vote to follow up from Perlon and Another Miracle. Venetia Williams' mare looked promising last season and wasn't beaten all that far in the Fred Winter at Cheltenham, making it almost unbelievable that she was able to race off 94 last time. The reason for that though was she'd done absolutely nothing this season before hacking up at Hereford on Wednesday and she consequently looks thrown in if running to a similar level of form under a 7lb penalty. Should she disappoint then perhaps Perlon will be best placed to take over. Gary Moore's gelding hasn't been seen since May but is 2lbs lower now and took second that day, albeit a remote one. In a race that lacks strength in depth he's got to have a chance under a promising rider and the market will tell us more. Another Miracle won very nicely last time, appreciating a marked step down in class for his handicap debut, but a 10lb rise might end the winning for now although he should run his race. Snark is an interesting handicap debutant but we'd need to see a flood of support before switching allegiance, whilst Mix N Match has each-way claims having shown some ability and a liking for these conditions, especially as Harry Skelton can get the job done. Keltic Cliche represents a top trainer/jockey combination and needs respecting too but she'll need to find plenty for this step up in trip and can only be watched along with Woodlark Island for David Pipe. Money for either would appear significant, but Kahsabelle brings the best recent form to the table and can send favourite backers home happy.
