In depth
Verdict
Divers made a very encouraging hurdling debut at Fontwell, finishing second to the highly regarded Breman, who has since finished third off 121 in a competitive handicap and a re-production of that would see him land this. The shorter 2m 2f trip in that contest appeared the undoing of him as he looked a winner two out and lacked the winners' pace late on. The slower ground conditions will be more in his favour also so with that in mind Divers is a confident selection. Petito appeared to appreciate the step into handicap company and has been progressing with each run but appears to have it all to do on ratings while Qrackers has failed to step up on a promising hurdling debut behind Franchoek at Chepstow in October. He reportedly has breathing problems and the fitting of a tongue tie has failed to work the oracle. Le Beau Bai has ability based on his bumper ability which he has failed to transfer to hurdling. Connections stepped him up to three miles in testing conditions last time for which he failed to get home. A handicap appears a more realistic target for him at this stage. Divers displayed a lot of potential at Fontwell behind Breman and is very hard to get away from here.
