In depth
Verdict
Hoh Mike is the pick to land the feature event of the day despite not appearing to be as effective over 6 furlongs as 5 furlongs. A smart juvenile, Michael Bells' charge progressed to be quite a smart sprinter last year however, whether he can make that step-up into a consistent group performer remains to be seen. Sonny Red is another for the shortlist as he likes to get his toe in. Sprinting appears to have been the making of him and the Hannon tend to prime their charges at this event. Balthazaar's Gift finished behind Hoh Mike last month but has shown in the past that he requires a number of outings to blow away the cobwebs. Prime Contender is another who contested the Duke Of York Stakes. Both him and Hoh Mike are closely matched on previous clashes but Hoh Mike gets the nod.
