Verdict

Fast ground has brought about some improvement in FIRST WINTER and he is fancied to make a winning start in handicaps after his victory here in a novice event, though Victory Chime and Soghan could make life tough if returning in lengthy absences in good heart. Lucky's Dream has won twice on Turf but is almost certainly better on the all-weather. Baryshnikov went close at Pontefract nine days ago but always seems to find at least one too good.
