Verdict
Convince was just denied over course and distance last time (Chubbes was behind him that day) and can make amends here. A repeat of that effort by Sir Michael Stoute's colt has to see him go close here. The ones to give him most to do are probably Mister Saif, who showed promise on his Goodwood debut but might appreciate another furlong; another Richard Hannon runner, Rainhill, who should appreciate the step up in trip; Barry Hills' River Nurey, who is surely better than he showed at Ascot; Andrew Balding's Royal Warrant, who showed a lot of promise on his Salisbury debut, Kyllachy's half-sister, Ela Paparouna, who is reported to be showing ability at home and who should have come on for a very promising Newbury debut, and Ann Summers Two, who has been highly tried in three starts so far but, on literal form, has to be seriously considered. Others to watch in the market include Geoff Wragg's River Treat, for whom Kieren Fallon has been booked, and Paul Cole's The Butterfly Boy, who is related to a number of winners, while David Loder's Diamond Way did not look anything out of the ordinary on his debut, although he drops back in trip now. Overall, though, it might pay to stick with experience and Convince.
