In depth

Verdict

With a rating of 101, PLEASANT MAN would be expected to win an early-season race of this nature. Roger Charlton's charge made a successful debut at Haydock and though finishing last of five in the Group 2 Royal Lodge at Newmarket was only beaten just over 4 lengths. Lord Protector was always up with the pace over a mile at Kempton and battled on strongly so should have no problems staying the extra. Charger kept on well once getting the hang of the job over a mile at Lingfield while Regal Vega made a very encouraging debut on heavy ground at Haydock though will find conditions very different. Wahraan looks best of the Stoute pair though both will need to improve from what they showed in their first campaign.
