    Verdict

Bold Act is a speculative choice ahead of Cusoon, First Show, Raza Cab and Merrymadcap. There are plenty in with chances here, but with the Henry Candy team in good shape at present, we shall pin our hopes on Bold Act improving enough to prevail. The four-year-old came off third best in a blanket finish on his handicap debut at Nottingham just over three weeks ago, faring best of those drawn high, and as he did tend to hang to his right, should fare better round here. In addition, he can meet First Show on better terms than when third to Jeremy Noseda's charge in a maiden here last autumn and is a sporting selection in what looks an open affair. Cusoon was only beaten a neck on his return to action at Goodwood and should go well on the faster ground, while Raza Cab, one of the three topweights, may appreciate the return to Turf. Merrymadcap has been a model of consistency of late and will have his supporters, as will Jools who got going too late on his last visit here. In a hard one to call, we return to Bold Act as the answer
