Verdict

Grande Annee is the selection here, in preference to Irony and Man of Gwent Jeremy Noseda's filly won a better race than this at Newmarket last time out, over a similar distance and in similar conditions. She's chasing a hat-trick having previously come out on top when breaking her maiden at Doncaster. She's 3 pounds better off than Irony, for whom David Probert can claim 5 to keep him competitive. He's also won at this level. Both of them need to overcome a low draw though. Man of Gwent is expected to be ridden prominently; it's his first try at this distance having previously gone further, but the step back should enhance his chances. Trafalgar Square and St Petersburg are among others who've won over this trip; they were the last two home recently here in a slightly better race than this, and this may be their level. But in a contest with many chances, we'll support the claims of Grande Annee.
